Things to keep in mind when deciding what truck scale is right for you:

  1. Do you require a Measurement Canada Legal for Trade Inspection?
Most trades that require a truck scale to operate will need a Measurement Canada Initial inspection and depending on the industry – you may need to recertify your scale every 2 years.
  2. Are you in a location that is susceptible to lightening strikes?
Lightening-proof load cells have built-in power surge protection that redirects the energy away from sensitive components, and hydraulic load cells are safe from lightening damage because they do not contain electrical circuitry.
  3. Do you want a steel deck or concrete?
Concrete is heavier, more time consuming to install and provides better traction is more solid and has a longer life then a steel deck.
  4. Will you need to move the scale?
If the scale needs to be moved within a year, a portable truck scale is a good option.
  5. Pit or flush?
Truck scales with pits or that are raised are popular because they allow snow and water to easily pass and not hinder the operation of the scale, but they do need to be maintained!
