Legal For Trade Certification
If you sell products based on weight – you will require a Legal for Trade Certification. Legal for trade scales have to be extremely accurate to ensure fairness to all parties.
Regular calibrations and certifications help to keep those scales accurate. Fines and/or scale seizures are a result of being caught without a Legal for Trade Certification on your scale.
Different industries have different inspection intervals, visit Measurement Canada to see what your inspection intervals are and when you need to have to be re-certified.
Depending on the use of the scale you may only need one, initial inspection.
Services provided by Masstec include obtaining a Measurement Canada provided Legal for Trade Certification as well as Certification stickers showing scales are certified.
The Weights and Measures Act can be found here.
